The University of Padua, founded in 1222, is one of the most important symbols of culture in Italy.T he historical seat of Padua University, Palazzo Bo, keeps an extraordinary architectural, historical and cultural heritage.  The complex we see today is the result of the restoration of a series of buildings which gathered together ancient medieval towers and renaissance palaces.  The guided tour of Palazzo Bo includes the visits of the Anatomical theatre, the first example in the world of a permanent anatomical theatre, built in 1594 by Professor of Anatomy Girolamo Fabrici d´Acquapendente. Designed according to the stylistic canons of the Renaissance, the theatre has not been altered over time. Moreover the tour will show  the “Sala dei Quaranta” (Hall of the Forty) decorated by the portraits of 40 famous personages who studied at the University, Galileo Galilei´s  original chair and the Aula di Medicina (where lectures on medicine were originally given). Registration is required.
