Seminario del Dott. Roy Luria
30.06.2014
Lunedì 30 Giugno, ore 11:30 - Aula 1 del DPSS
Seminario dal titolo “Come together right now: When working memory representations do not yield to Gestalt grouping principles”, tenuto dal Dott. Roy Luria dell’Università di Tel-Aviv.
Abstract:
Dr. Luria will present findings from his recent studies on visual working memory by using event-related potentials (i.e., ERP) technique. It is known that items in Gestalt groups are processed more efficiently, but do they actually form a single object? Dr. Luria will review former evidence favoring the power of Gestalt cues, and then will present behavioral and ERP data that support a more probabilistic view of these grouping cues. The results Dr. Luria will show indicate that the objects' representations do not necessarily follow Gestalt organization, even when behavioral benefits emerge. Instead, bound representations depend also on factors such as task demands, expectations and the items history.
